Editorial Review (from Amazon.com)

The book that took the world by storm....In his fifth year at Hogwart's, Harry faces challenges at every turn, from the dark threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be- Named and the unreliability of the government of the magical world to the rise of Ron Weasley as the keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. Along the way he learns about the strength of his friends, the fierceness of his enemies, and the meaning of sacrifice.

Rebecca Adler thinks this book is Good.

Order of the Phoenix was the most nail-biting of the Harry Potter series so far, but I think that may be in part because it's the first I've read without seeing the movie version first. Because I didn't know what was going to happen next I found I couldn't put the book down.

However, there are some parts of the book where I felt the author could have shortened it or left out some descriptions. I'm sure they'll be helpful with making the movie, but I found them burdensome and they slowed the story down quite a bit. Most of the action didn't happen until the last 100 pages.

Also, I was really sad that one of my favorite characters dies in this version. I know we can't always have happy endings, but I was just starting to get used to this character being around when he was murdered. I don't want to give away who it is though.

Another plus to this book is that the author sets it up in such a way that one doesn't have to read the entire series to know what's happening. Perhaps that's one of the reasons for the lengthy explanations. In all, it's a good read and a quick one at that.
