Rebecca Adler thinks this book is Good.

No matter how long I avoided this series, I've found myself drawn into the life of this young boy. I'm not surprised this series has become as popular as it is. If I weren't in my twenties I would probably be even more fascinated by Harry Potter's adventures.

In all, the last three Harry Potter books have been the most interesting, but also the saddest. In "The Half-Blood Prince" Potter seems to grow older than his years. He learns what he must do to rid the world of Lord Voldemort and he learns he'll have to do it alone, or at least almost alone.

As far as the book itself, if I weren't so invested in the series already I probably would have found it difficult to get through. I feel like Rowling could have gotten to the point a lot quicker instead of trying to build suspense that isn't there. I found myself frustrated by the constant delays in the story line, but perhaps that was to simulate Potter's frustration with the adult world, where nobody will listen to his warnings. I thought four and five were much better though. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Julie Carter thinks this book is Excellent.

In the end accounting, I think this is my favorite of the books. Less whiny than the book before, and tighter. But long enough for details that I savored.
