Editorial Review (from Amazon.com)

An orphan girl's progress from custody of cruel relatives to an oppressive boarding school culminates in a troubled career as a governess. Jane's first assignment at Thornfield, where the proud and cynical master harbors a scandalous secret, draws readers ever deeper into a compelling exploration of the mysteries of the human heart.

Grace Joan thinks this book is Excellent.

Orphaned as a little girl Jane goes to live with her uncle and his family. Her uncle soon dies and she is left with his wife and children who all seem to hate her with a malice she can’t understand. Jane copes with this as best she can, but is soon sent off to a boarding school that is, shall we say, less than up to par with human standards. And yet, she relished her stay here, as it was preferable to living with her horrific relatives. This story is about the next twenty years of Jane’s life, her stay at the boarding school, her position as a governess, her loves, wants, needs, and desires. As you read you will find yourself falling in love with this rather odd girl, Jane Eyre. You will long with her, cry with her, and suffer with her. Written in first person Jane Eyre gives you a feeling of intimacy with Jane’s Character, and will keep you captivated till the end.
