No spoilers coming up, don't worry -- this is a lovely, entirely gripping book, a befitting finale to a grand series and testimony to an incredibly creative author's talent at weaving tales. All doesn't end perfectly -- as expected there are several "good" characters (many personal favourites among them) who don't survive until the end, but that was only to be expected. Rowling winds up the story of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort with elan, neatly tying up loose ends and explaining the back and forth of it in an extremely engaging fashion.

My only regret upon finishing this book was that there won't be another after it!

A fitting end to a highly satisfying series. There are flaws, but I can overlook them for the sheer life and joy of this book.

A beautiful ending. Brava, J.K. Rowling!

I wasn't disappointed in the least. Even when I thought I had things all figured out, Rowling was able to surprise me. Great ending, although I wish there were more to come. I guess I'll just have to reread them all...

I really had a difficult time with this book, just as I did the sixth (excuse after excuse to stick their heads in the Pensieve and forget about school). The story opened with a bang, and then fizzled into nothingness extremely quickly, staying at a level quite far below simmer for entirely too long. Ho-ing and Humm-ing their way through months of nothingness is not really my idea of a good read. It was extremely frustrating to watch the main characters twiddling their thumbs for extended periods of time. Then came one of the most improbable and ridiculous scenes that I have ever seen in this book, or quite possibly any other: dragon escape. I need say no more for those who have read the book, and don't want to include any spoilers for those who haven't (although I don't know what poor deprived soul on the planet at this point hasn't already read the book). After this things pick up a bit, but then it all crumbles again into contrivance and necessary explanation. Harry is given just the right amount of time to complete the things that he needs to (multiple times), regardless of Voldemort's burning desire to see Harry dead, and thenb the end arrives with a bang and way the heck too much explanation of what has actually happened, unbeknownst to readers. I think that the most enjoyable piece of the entire book, for me, was the Epilogue. This bit of writing, was the epitome of what endings for series like this should be. So, I was glad to see the close of Harry Potter, but really wish that it could have been done better. As such, the book was definitely worth reading, but not high on my list of great additions to the world of reading.

I loved this book! I usually don't read this type of book, but this was awesome and not boring at all. I was really mad about some of the characters that died!!!! :( I prepared myself for reading this book by reading all the other books in a week for my first time. Read this book even if you don't think it is the kind of book you would read, but read the others first.
