Editorial Review (from Amazon.com)

When a brilliant, driven industrialist harnesses the cutting edge of quantum physics to enable people everywhere, at trivial cost, to see one another at all times: around every corner, through every wall, into everyone's most private, hidden, and even intimate moments. It amounts to the sudden and complete abolition of human privacy--forever. Then, as society reels, the same technology proves able to look backwards in time as well. What happens next is a story only Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter could tell. The Light of Other Days is a novel that will change your view of what it is to be human.

Colin thinks this book is Worth Reading.

The Light of Other Days is a neat little thought experiment of how society might deal with capacity to have all information, past and present, available all the time. It deals with everything from the breakdown in privacy to the change in how scientist work. Like most of Baxter's books, it is great material for pondering upon. However, also like most of Baxter's books, the characters lack depth and Baxter still really needs to hire a good proof reader and editor. All in all, there's some very good ideas in this book and it is a very enjoyable read, but the execution is a touch lacking.
