Contest - Rated Worth Reading
While not on par with some of Matt Reilly's later books this is still a good read. Also is now available in paperback. The plot idea alone makes this book worth reading.
And as always with Matt Reilly, don't get too attached to the characters, because there is a good chance they will be dead soon. Matt doesn't like character development, much simpler just to not bother with and kill off the character.
In the newer paperback version, Reilly adds some new characters and scenes that were not in the orginal. It definatly helps the storyline move along.
Happy Reading
The Magician's Nephew - Rated Excellent
A book that is sure to get more attention due to the recent release of the movie "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". This is the first book in the story line of Narnia, telling the story of how Narnia was created and how People from our world first entered into that land.
Although this is surely a children's story adults will find the allegory to the Creation story very facsinating. While the language is simplistic, the plot has surprising depth and variety. Also there is a depth to the characters that appeals to all generations.
In all a book that is definatly worth reading, especially before you go to see the newly released movie. Also good after, but it is a prequel for a reason.
